Writing Coaching
If you are struggling with the structure or development of your novel, editing while writing, keeping to a schedule, or balancing writing with life, consider working with a coach who can help you improve your writing and self-confidence.
Writing Coaching – The Novel
Review and discussion of up to 2,500 words (10 pages, doubled space, 12 pt font).
WHAT YOU GET: Twelve – 45-minute coaching and Q/A sessions. Email and text support between meetings.
TIMEFRAME: Writing for discussion must be submitted 3 days prior to coaching meeting. Sessions to be used within 6 months.
GET STARTED: Schedule first appointment, sign contract, submit writing 3 days in advance of each session. Payment for each month due in advance of the first monthly meeting.
Writing Coaching – The Short Story
Review and discussion of up to 2,500 words (10 pages, doubled space, 12 pt font).
WHAT YOU GET: Four – 45-minute coaching and Q/A sessions. Email and text support between meetings.
TIMEFRAME: Writing for discussion must be submitted 3 days prior to coaching meeting. Sessions to be used within 3 months.
GET STARTED: Schedule first appointment, sign contract, submit writing 3 days in advance of each session. Half due in advance of the first meeting.
Writing Coaching – Flash Fiction
Review and discussion of up to 2,500 words (10 pages, doubled space, 12 pt font).
WHAT YOU GET: One – 45-minute coaching and Q/A session.
TIMEFRAME: Writing for discussion must be submitted 3 days prior to coaching session.
GET STARTED: Schedule meeting, submit writing 3 days in advance, and pay fee prior to start of session. No contract required.
Editing
Three types of editing are offered. An Editorial Assessment should be done when the first draft is completed. Developmental Editing can take place during or after the first draft is written. Structural editing occurs once the first draft is complete.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing focuses on the elaboration of ideas, an analysis of story elements, and ensures that writing is clear and engaging.
WHAT YOU GET: a line-by-line analysis of a manuscript with in-line comments, an editorial report highlighting strengths and weaknesses and focused revision recommendations, and a one hour follow up session for questions. No line or copyedits are made to manuscript.
TIMEFRAME: Usually 1 month, depending on length of manuscript.

Structural Editing
Structural editing looks at the organization, structure, and coherence of a work. It focuses on logic and flow as well as tone and style with regard to the purpose and intended audience.
WHAT YOU GET: a line-by-line analysis of a manuscript with in-line comments and rev tracked changes, an editorial report highlighting strengths and weaknesses with focused revision recommendations, and a 30-minute follow up session for questions. No line or copyedits are made to manuscript.
TIMEFRAME: Usually 1 month, depending on length of manuscript.

Editorial Assessment
An editorial assessment, aka manuscript critique, is an analysis focusing on content, structure, development, consistency, and, for fiction, literary elements.
WHAT YOU GET: Identification of big picture problems, recommendations, and resources in a lengthy report. Includes a 30-minute follow up session for questions. No in-line comments or changes are made to the text.
TIMEFRAME: Usually 2 weeks, depending on length of manuscript.
